A widely published
contributor to the outdoor industry, Kennan Harvey lives “off the
grid” with his wife and daughter in a self-built, solar powered home
below the La Plata Mountains.
"Dramatic wildness
is a primary theme within my favorite pictures," Kennan stresses. "I
want people to stop to take a second look, and a third, just like I
do while witnessing such beauty first hand. Only then will a photo
have lasting impact and inspiration."
A passionate
athlete himself, Kennan has completed numerous rock climbing first
ascents throughout the world, placed 2nd at the Survival of the
Fittest competition and, in 1999, Climbing Magazine selected him as
one of “America’s Ten Best Climbers.”
After a
photographic mentorship with renowned wilderness photographer Pat
O’Hara, Harvey has pursued photography full-time since 1993, earning
a cover with American Photo during that same year. His photos also
won categories in the 1997 Banff Mountain Film Festival Photo
Contest and the 2006 Teva Mountain Games Photo Show.
His work is represented by Getty
Images and Aurora’s Outdoor Collection, as well as numerous
editorial and advertising clients including Kelty, Patagonia,
Columbia Sportswear, Climbing Magazine, Backpacker, and Newsweek.
